How can we help?
Answers to the things people ask most, and how to reach us for everything else.
Recording and entries
Tap the microphone on the Record tab and talk the way you would to a friend. Tessera keeps every word — it edits the rambling out, but it never summarises or drops a detail. Recording continues if you leave the app to look something up.
Location
Settings → Location offers Off, Journaling-only, and Trip Mode. Nothing is captured in the background. A place is always shown by name, never as coordinates.
The Life Book
Settings → The Life Book → Compile builds a readable book out of entries you have already written. It is compiled from your own words, not generated about you.
Subscription
Manage or cancel through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Tessera never bills you directly and never sees your card.
Frequently asked
- Why did a name come out wrong? Speech recognition is weakest on names it has never heard. Tessera learns yours: the people and places in your entries are fed back in as a hint, so the same name gets more accurate the more you record. Unusual spellings may take a few entries to settle.
- Can I delete a single entry? Not from inside the app yet. Email us and we will delete it for you, or you can delete your whole account at any time.
- Does it work offline? Recording works offline and your timeline stays readable. Transcription and everything downstream of it need a connection, and will catch up once you have one.
- Can I export my entries? Yes, on every tier including the free one. Your own words are never behind the paywall — the Life Book is the paid thing because it is the thing we compile.
- Why does the first request of the day feel slow? Tessera runs on a small server that sleeps when idle. The first request wakes it, which can take up to a minute. Everything after that is quick.
- How do I delete everything? Settings → Delete everything. You type a confirmation phrase, and your entries, recordings, people, places and trips are removed immediately. Nobody has to approve it and it cannot be undone.
